As part of ICBC’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, we’re committed to building a more diverse workforce, with a specific focus on increasing the number of employees who identify as Aboriginal.  We also hope to create awareness and understanding about Aboriginal cultures among our current employees. Our intention is to provide a sense of belonging, while building a workforce that’s representative of British Columbia. 

To support our goals, we’ve introduced an Aboriginal Employee Resource Group that will strive to:

  • Provide a space for open dialogue and learning 

  • Examine and remove barriers to full participation in the workplace 

  • Increase the degree employees feel their uniqueness is recognized and valued

Currently the Aboriginal Employee Resource Group is planning activities, both at ICBC and in the community, to celebrate National Aboriginal Day. Typically, employees who work for organizations that embrace diversity and inclusion, will:

  • Feel a stronger sense of inclusion, fulfillment and value in the workplace

  • Enjoy the support of like-minded individuals

  • Have a collective voice as a community

  • Be a resource for other employees and the business

  • Increase their opportunities for personal and professional development
