During my Experience
Day to Day

During my first work term, I was tasked to filter through data to obtain useful facts and numbers that I later organized to display them in a presentation. Next, I analyzed the annual and financial reports to better understand where the numbers were coming from and what each number meant. Lastly, I analyzed my data and formulated them into a presentation/report, then provided a full business analysis case. I did a couple of analytic reports and presented four of them to the board of directors. My research was then used to decide whether we went forward with a product or project.

Learning and Adaptation

My work term was filled with learning curves and has given me so many opportunities to grow and try new tasks. My employers trusted me with big projects and were there for support whenever I needed them. The different projects that I was involved with consisted of doing thorough reports on different financial landscapes globally, comparing financial statements of different countries, price analysis, market analysis, and connecting with different companies for partnership opportunities.

Accomplishments and Challenges

Outside of reports and data analytics, I was given the opportunity to connect and establish relationships with different people around the world. I attended conferences and webinars, and met with these connections for partnerships and other learning chances. I even had the chance to meet some of these virtual connections, in person, when I visited Europe.

The highlight of my work term was being a project lead of a team of five members on a new project that we had previously done research on to see if it was feasible. This project allowed me to lead, conduct market research, analyze data, draft reports, establish partnerships, and more. I learned a lot of different tools while leading from my team and from the board of directors, which I plan to use in the future. During this project, I was also able to get our company featured in a Fintech Times Article. This was a fantastic way for our company to gain exposure since The Fintech Times has over 75,000 readers.

Reflection & Tips
Connection to Academic Studies or Career Goals

For my future, I want to concentrate on Financial and Analytics. This job has given me insight into the day-to-day tasks of a Business Analyst and gave me the flexibility to work on projects that I was interested in. With the lessons and feedback I have gathered thus far, I have a sturdy foundation for a career as a Business Analyst. Completing my daily tasks and fulfilling my job expectations at Remitbee has solidified my career goals and career choice.
