Position Title

I wanted to get involved with the Nigerian Students Association in order to unite students, organize engaging events and build a strong Nigerian community at SFU. When international students come to Canada, they often want to become a part of a group that shares their culture and customs, so that’s where we come in.

I take great pride in my ability to help students find their sense of belonging upon their arrival at SFU. We help each other out with school and accommodation issues when they arise, so we’ve become more than just a club, we’re a support system. I also volunteered back home, so the giving of my time is a big part of who I am. Becoming a student volunteer has allowed me to develop planning, budgeting and time management skills. Volunteering has been an invaluable experience for me, so don’t wait too long to get involved; get out there and contribute to something no matter how big or small that thing might be.
