I have a passion for politics, so when I saw that the previous SFU Green Party had been inactive for many years, I decided to start it up again. SFU seems to be in alignment with the Green Party ideology so I felt that there was a big need for a Green movement at the school.

Because we’re a relatively new club, we hold regular off-campus meetings. Consideration for the environment is a value that I hold near and dear, so I wanted to bring exposure to that here at SFU. It feels good that the party has entrusted me with this role even though I only got involved with them after the most recent federal election. This has been my way of giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

Volunteering teaches you so much that you can’t learn in the classroom. It’s fulfilling in its own unique way. What’s important isn’t that you necessarily get it ‘right’, just that you get started and figure it out along the way.
