When I first came to SFU, I quickly switched from my original major in order to study Psychology & Counselling. I joined Hi-Five because it was so exciting to see that there were a group of people on campus who felt the exact same way as me. Being in this group has allowed me to educate others in the hopes of reducing the stigma around mental health issues, which is something I’m passionate about.
The most fulfilling part is empowering other students to know that they’re being heard and that they’re not alone. 1 in 4 adults struggle with their mental health, especially with the added pressures of university, so I believe mental health and wellness is something that we should all be talking about as SFU students.
