Winter rolls in, the weather gets colder, snow falls to the ground, and we come together with family and friends. December is a time to enjoy festivities and celebrate the end of another successful 12 months. It is important to recognize the variety of celebrations around the world and what December means for different cultures. With such a diverse variety of students attending SFU, the ways in which people enjoy December are all so different!
Whether you are born in beautiful BC or moved away from your hometown, it is no doubt that this time of year is a chance for people to come together. Enjoy one another’s company, visit family, hangout with friends, and do fun winter activities as much as possible. As it has been recently difficult to travel, going home and visiting family can feel impossible. It is important to remember that the holidays are not always an enjoyable time for everyone, which is why it is even more vital that we lift each other up and spread kindness. Invite your best friend to dinner, buy someone that you care about a special gift. The little things really do go a long way.
Although it’s cold, remember that the semester is almost over! Think about your New Year’s resolutions, forget about your final exams and enjoy your time off, you deserve it. December is a time to enjoy festivities and spend time with the people that make you happy. Happy holidays!
