A few years ago, one of my friends told me that he thought I could use some improvement in my public speaking skills and suggested the Toastmasters’ club to me.

I attended one of their meetings and I’ve been in the club ever since. As co-president of Toastmasters, I do everything from grant requests and organizing meetings, to helping participants get ready for competitions and promoting the club itself.

Through Toastmasters, I have met a lot of amazing people who have made an impact in my life, and I have gotten to know more about myself and others. I’m now more aware that all people develop in their own special way. We are all different and we learn differently.

Over the years, I have learnt how to be a better public speaker. I was even asked to be a master of ceremonies for a presentation at Vancity, when I worked there for co-op. It was a great experience.
