It's been an amazing four months as a Copy Editor here at the OLC. I've had the chance to work on a variety of content, and it's been quite a journey. The OLC is a unique space where students can explore and contribute to a wide range of topics.
Choosing my top picks was tough with so much good stuff, but here are three pieces that really stood out to me:
First up on my list is this blog from SFU Health & Counselling. I connected with this piece because it talks about how having meaningful relationships is essential. The blog emphasizes the importance of appreciation, friendship, and contributing to others' well-being. It touches on something everyone deserves: to feel socially connected. What I found especially valuable are the practical tips it offers. It doesn't just discuss the importance of social connections but gives real advice on how to build and maintain meaningful relationships, making it a useful guide for anyone looking for actionable tips.
This piece is the second pick on my list. It captivated me with its vivid descriptions and personal narratives, providing readers with a glimpse into a fascinating exchange experience. The author's ability to convey the beauty of Switzerland through words made this experience a standout for me.
For my third choice, I picked the first blog I edited at the OLC. This one stood out to me because it talks about being yourself and believing in your abilities, especially when job hunting. The author shares personal stories about how being real and confident helped in getting a job. The tips given, like knowing yourself, setting goals, and celebrating small victories, make it a useful read for anyone figuring out their path and career.
