I was part of a cohort of students and staff on the Terry Fox Run organizing team. While the staff worked on event logistics, the student team had to come up with ways to connect with the community and bring them out to the event. So we designed a memory wall in commemoration of those who've been affected by cancer. Students posted notes with supportive messages and memories of people they loved.

Knowing that we had a strong voice when presenting our ideas to SFU staff and administrators was probably the most rewarding part. We felt like our thoughts and opinions mattered. SFU’s goal is to be the ‘engaged university’, so if you want to become an SFU student holistically, volunteering is an excellent path.
