SFU Student

Hi, I'm Eleina! I am in my fourth year, studying behavioral neuroscience at SFU. I am Inuk and I've lived in the Vancouver area for just over 2 years now. Right now I have my sights set on medical school with the hopes of becoming a surgeon. So a big part of Indigenous wellness for me is making things with my hands. I love beading, sewing, painting, embroidery, cross stich and crochet. I've noticed that I'm always happier when I am creating new things and I feel much more connected to my culture. I draw a lot of my strength and power from my hands. I always love learning new techniques and I was so excited that I could make my own drum through the ISC drum-making workshop. How do you connect to your culture?
