The SFU Punjabi Students Association revolves a lot around fundraising and setting up social events.

We motivate team members to help with the fundraisers and to advertise it. Going back to our name, Punjabi Student Association, we actually learn a lot about our own culture; our formal events have many cultural elements.

Our meeting is very open, so if you’re from a different cultural background, you’re free to come in and just see what it’s all about. We also have connections with what’s going on back home because some charities we help are connected to India.

For example, currently we donate to a farmer’s association in India because a lot of farmers are committing suicide because they cannot get enough financial resources. A lot of kids today in Canada don’t really look back at their cultural background, and through PSA they can really get in touch with it.
