Giving back to the the student community here at SFU is my main motivation. I want to make sure that first-year students feel supported and that they get to connect with other students. Although a demanding workload comes along with being a science student, my fellow student union members are always willing to help each other out. Because we’re so supportive of one another, it always works out in the end.

This role has helped me to develop the professional communication, public outreach and event planning skills that I’ll need in my career. It’s really easy to get involved as a volunteer if you keep an eye out for departmental emails and posters around campus. The time commitment can be as much or as little as you’d like, but the rewards are well worth it.
