I had a mentee student who was at first really shy. She didn’t talk or contribute to the conversation and she seemed not that interested. But now she’s one of my best friends and she’s becoming a mentor too, I call her my protégé and she does all the same things I did, it’s adorable.

I know I have succeeded as a mentor when I pass on the baton and get people to go on and volunteer too.
