I work at a community centre off-campus, so I felt like I was already making an impact locally, but I also wanted to make one globally. Volunteering with AISEC has given me that opportunity. I’ve been able to develop my interviewing and networking skills in a way that will be of great benefit to both my career and any future field research I may conduct as part of my degree. Working with a group of like-minded individuals and seeing them develop and succeed is by far the most rewarding part of my role.
Although it was somewhat of a challenge to find my way when I first joined the club, my mentors and the club’s Vice-President have been a huge reassurance to me. I’ve gained invaluable experience in business operation and have been able to improve my interpersonal skills. Getting involved has turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made as a student thus far.
