I started going to Super Smash Bros (a multiplayer fighting game) tournaments a few years ago and quickly developed a passion for it. A friend and I decided to take over the SFU club with the intent of putting on regular Smash events and competitions for the community.
For me, it’s all about game-players coming out and having a great time competing against their peers. It’s a really special thing when people who are passionate about something have the opportunity to be a part of a larger community of like-minded individuals.
It can sometimes be difficult to juggle my academic life with my commitments to the club, but my co-president Patrick and the club’s dedicated volunteers are a great help to me. We’re more than just a club, we’re a team.
