Position Title
Story Faculty

As a third-year student completing my first and second co-op term, I am grateful to have been offered a position on the team at Metrotown Family Chiropractic and Massage. Working fully in-person, I serve patients creating an environment of healing and empathy, which is the mission statement of the clinic. My five years of customer service and client engagement prepared me well for this role, as I work daily interacting with potential and current patients.

Not only has my work been with office administration, but I have gained hands-on experience working with patients of varying concern. Taking verbal history and relaying this to the chiropractor, charting, and completing range of motion assessments, are just some of the tasks I would do daily. Working with patients through their individualized treatment plans, not only showed me the benefit of hands-on work, but also just how important it is to have a welcoming and positive environment for patients.

Aside from these office duties, I also took initiative to create an updated online presence on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube for the clinic. By creating posts using Canva, or taking photographs in person, I have created a professional image for the clinic online that has been well received by patients and others.

Next, I also worked with the chiropractor to film, edit, and post videos of different stretches to YouTube. These stretches were then added to our systems to be easily sent and accessed by patients depending on their prescribed rehabilitation and goals.

Overall, through this co-op I have greatly strengthened my communication, leadership, and technical skills. Being given the opportunity to grow in this role will help me in future academic and workplace roles, even if I do not work in a clinic setting in the future. I strongly urge students to apply for the co-op program and would recommend Metrotown Family Chiropractic for their service to patients and great team.
