“I began to pursue graduate studies in Clinical-Child Psychology because I've always felt that my calling was to cultivate the mental health of children and their families. After completing my BA with a double major in Psychology and English and a minor in Counselling and Human Development at SFU, I managed a research lab focused on adolescent health. My work involved coordinating a grant-funded, provincial-wide study on Connect©, an attachment-based parenting program. Soon after, pursuing a career as a clinical-child psychologist quickly became an unquestioned passion of mine. To me, nothing compares to the joy of my clinical work with little ones. It is undoubtedly the most fulfilling aspect of my experience in the program.⁣

When it comes to advice for students considering graduate programs in Clinical Psychology, I would encourage students to seek and create opportunities with a research lab, be confident in your strengths as an applicant, and practice setting solid boundaries between your academic and personal lives. Self-care and work-life balance are paramount to success as a graduate student!⁣"
