Being the president of Enactus was definitely the best experience I've had during university. We helped a lot of people in our community and created programs to meet their needs.
I was so inspired by the dedication of our volunteers - in one of our programs, a participant kept volunteering even after she was diagnosed with cancer. We also worked on a program called Soap for Hope, which hires people on the Downtown Eastside to upcycle bar soaps from hotels into liquid soap.
At one point, one of our teammembers bought one of the employees a pizza for his dedicated work. But instead of eating it, he walked up and down the street to hand it out to others that he believed needed it more. Although now I've retired from the president position, I'm still glad to have been able to see moments like this and to have helped make a difference in people's everyday lives.
