I volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and I am responsible for looking for sponsorship and fundraising. Mostly we need it for events, like Balding for Dollars in the fall. It definitely takes up a lot of time especially when you have got a list of people to contact, and there were like, 50 numbers on there.
Working with the society is a very personal cause for me because my father passed away from lung cancer two years ago. So I want to help make a difference and when I do it feels like I'm doing something for my dad. And for other people, basically everyone knows someone who's had cancer it’s such a prevalent disease. This makes you feel like you’re really helping. Maybe, statistically speaking, you could be helping yourself too.
