Our primary objective as Engagement Peers is to help students find engagement opportunities that interest them.

There was one student I helped a year ago that I still remember. She didn't really know what engagement was, and didn't know where to go or what to do. I shared my own experiences with her of how challenging it was for me as an international student, and I was able to relate to how she was confused. I showed her places she go to for help and we found her a volunteer position that she is still doing today.

I've developed the ability to communicate effectively like this, and I have also gained critical thinking skills from brainstorming with my Peers on how to move the Engagement Peer program forward. I will be able to use these transferrable skills in the future, especially as I am thinking of starting my own business in the next few years.
