I volunteer for the Attention and Memory Lab of the Psychology department. Currently, I'm a research assistant who runs participants through their experiments. We have to make sure participants are staying on task, debrief them after the experiment ends, and run the data through the system.
I would say the best thing I've gotten out of this experience is meeting more people in the Psych department. It's one of the best ways to make connections and meet new people in the program. I've been able to meet at least a dozen people who I can keep in contact with for future studies, conferences, and a whole range of opportunities within the field.
People come in with their new books, new articles, and experiments they are working on. Everyone has something to share. We've got a great crew in the Attention and Memory Lab; there's always more to learn from each other.
