What is your current position?

Current Master of Counselling Psychology Student in the School and Youth Concentration at Adler University. I also work part-time at the KidSafe Project Society working with at-risk children and youth.

How did your education in BPK influence your career?

It introduced me to a lot of innovative knowledge in health and science. BNS in particular combined what I loved from biology and physiology and psychology. It allowed me to figure out what I really connected with and how I could apply my skills and knowledge in the field that was best suited for me. It also really challenged me and pushed me in a number of different ways. It is not an easy program!

Who in BPK had an impact on you and why?

All of my friends that I met in my program, many of whom are some of my best friends today.

What is your favourite memory of your time at SFU as an undergraduate?

My Co-op in Nepal and snow days of course.

What advice would you give to today’s BPK student?

Take your time and try different courses so you can figure out what you really like. It is not a race! You will thank yourself later for giving yourself more time for self-exploration. Getting involved with a lab early on and co-op is also a great way to find your passion! If there are international opportunities take them!

Master's Student
I grew up most of my life in Sun Peaks, BC. As such I am an avid skier, hiker and in general an outdoor enthusiast. I have always had a passion for mental health which is what drew me to the BNS program at SFU. Elisabeth is currently a Master of Counselling Psychology Student at Adler University. She also works part-time at KidSafe Project Society.
