I decided to get involved with the Senate because I'd always wanted to leave a mark on the university before my graduation. Decision-making and the process behind it has always been really interesting to me. The Senate is the highest academic governing body at SFU, so I thought it was the perfect place to participate in student advocacy and learn about how important decisions are made.
I really enjoy having the opportunity to speak on behalf of students in order to ensure that their voices are heard. This role has given me the confidence to stand up for the things that I believe in, in a manner that’s constructive. I would encourage everyone to give volunteering a try, even if it’s not in a big way. Being a volunteer has been one of my favourite experiences as a student here at SFU.
