I didn’t start volunteering until maybe my second or third year, because I was so preoccupied with my studies. I would come here and I would go straight home; I felt like there was nothing for me, or that there was nothing SFU could offer.

Once one of my good friends got me involved, I started loving it; I wish I got into it sooner! With mini BIG Fair, I thought it would be interesting to get involved with organizing an event.

I’d seen it around campus a lot and I really wanted to know the logistics behind it, and I also thought it would be a really good opportunity to meet people. I had to use communication skills: staying on top of logistics, as well as preparing and communicating with the volunteers on a regular basis.

I don’t know what I’m going to pursue after I graduate, but after this experience, I know that I like meeting and talking to people, and hopefully I can incorporate that into my future career. There are so many opportunities around campus – you just need to open yourself to it.
