As a Clinical Research Assistant at Royal Columbian Hospital, there are many discoveries I have uncovered about this profession and myself. My work environment has provided a great amount of support to help familiarize myself with research, the hospital, and the health care system. I learned the fundamentals and nuances of research studies, such as how it is built and maintained. Additionally, many wonderful anesthesiologists collaborate and provide us with the opportunity for growth. Going into this position, I was not expecting how close I would be collaborating with clinicians. Not only am I getting comfortable with aspects of research but I am also getting acquainted with the front lines of health care and interaction with patients. I am highly grateful for my first term with Fraser Health. This position has definitely solidified my interest in building a career in medicine.
