Because we are in an academic space, it’s important that we raise awareness about sexual violence and provide safe spaces for survivors of sexual violence on campus. It is great that students have access to resources such as the SVSPO and the Women’s Centre to help them feel safer on campus.
For students who are interested in getting involved with us, they can go to the SFU Women’s Centre or the SVSPO office to see what volunteering opportunities are available. They have a variety of volunteer groups for social media, workshops, events, etc. Their volunteer hours will also get recorded in their co-curriculum record, so they can use it as a gateway to help their peers, make connections, and achieve their career goals.
