Position Title

My friends and I are first year Engineering students who will be applying for co-op positions next year, so we decided to start the club in order to make ourselves more attractive to potential employers during the hiring process. We’d also been a part of robotics teams in high school. Historically, UBC has been the only Canadian university competing in small-league robotics competitions, so we wanted to put SFU on the map.

Our goal is to attend our first small-league championship in two years’ time. I’ve been able to develop valuable public outreach, event planning and time management skills by volunteering with the club. I encourage other students to start volunteering with whatever time you have. It’s a great way to try something new in a structured way and make yourself stand out from other job candidates upon graduation.
