When I was in grade 10, I went on a month-long trip to Zambia with the directors of the SAM Project Sustainability through Agriculture and Microenterprises. I came back with a renewed sense of purpose and passion for helping others. Years later when I was a 3rd year student, I secured a co-op position with the organization. After my placement concluded, I decided to start a club that aims to bring the organization’s message to the SFU community.

We’re a small club that meets bi-weekly to plan fundraising and awareness-related events on campus. We’re super lucky to have such like-minded members who are equally as passionate about the cause and enthusiastic about the club itself. My role has helped me to improve my goal-setting skills and has helped me to become a more patient individual. Ultimately, sharing my passion for the SAM Project with other people and getting to witness how that intertwines their own respective passions is what drives me to do what I do.
